ADD Garden & Jungle Hike
Changing Tide Tours partners with Finca Saladero to bring you a unique, all-in-one tour!
Your day will start by boarding the boat with Changing Tide Tours in Puerto Jimenez at 7:30am for a Dolphin and Eco boat tour of the Golfo Dulce. We will make our way across to the North-East side of the Golfo Dulce along the rugged coast of Piedras Blancas National Park (the countries least visited park – accessible only by boat). As we cross the Golfo we will look to encounter Bottlenose Dolphin, the Pan Tropical spotted Dolphins (the pod numbering 100-300+), Rays, Turtles, the Pelagic Sea Snake, Birds and when in season, Whales and Whale Sharks.
Mid-morning we will arrive at Finca Saladero near the Esquinas River where you will join with Harvey and Susan for a guided hike through their Tropical Gardens and then into the Primary Rainforest. (with 3 different trails from Mild to Medium difficulty, we can accommodate most physical levels). See huge hardwood trees with massive root structures and vines while learning about the different levels of primary rainforest and their importance for our survival. Look for animals, insects, and birds while learning of the diversity and symbiotic relationships between plants and animals. As you end your hike by the beach you can participate in learning how to de-husk, open and scrape out a coconut to enjoy the fresh coconut and juice.
We then enjoy a delightful beachside lunch accompanied with homemade natural juices – araza, guanabana , cas, tamirindo or lemongrass tea before boarding the boat and heading back down the coast with a stop at one of our reefs for snorkeling and swimming. We then head back across the Golfo Dulce for a tour into a Mangrove/Estuary with a lesson on their importance to the environment along with bird watching and caiman/crocodile spotting.
You will end your day back in Puerto Jimenez at approximately 2:30 pm, having experienced multiple tours in one day.
